Mardi Himal Trek offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan range without the crowd. The trek has a lot to offer and is culturally rich and ample in beauty. Where we will experience the beauty and remoteness as you follow the trail. During the trekking time, we pass through wonderful parts of the Annapurna region. We will pass through dazzling rivers and streams and also the forest. It seems quite popular to combine the route with one of the other treks in the sanctuary. The trail winds along small paths through ancient rhododendron forest where you will climb out at around 4000m.

Mardi Himal Trek is the most popular trekking destination in Nepal. It is an unseen gem of the Annapurna region. The landscape will change into rugged high mountains as you ascend and the landscape that offers a magnificent view of the mountain. It become very popular in a short time and the trail to this trek is suitable for most people of average fitness. We will enjoy the off-pitch roads to base camp while viewing the beautiful peaks which allow exploring remote ethnic villages of this region. It is one of the easiest and shortest routes where we will walk through the newly developed trekking route gaining popularity each day.

Lodge Accommodation of Mardi Himal

Accommodation in this trek is generally a tea-house trek where you will be sleeping in a traditional tea-house. It is one of the best short trekking in Nepal. Where you can finish the trekking trail within a week with a stunning view of different mountains. The available accommodations are also basic and offer limited service where the rooms are usually small with shared or private washrooms. You will find basic tea-house trekking to Mardi with the beautiful view of the tea-house makes our accommodations worthwhile. This will be simple and most of the guesthouses on this route will have facilities of WIFI, hot water shower, and electricity. Which will be cheaper than other trekking trails.

On this trek, accommodation was a little bit more expensive compared to the more popular route. And there are couples of campsites at a lower altitude where trekkers can stay in guesthouses. This range is due to factors like your workout skill; the time of trek which is basic and offers only the essential items to trekkers. You can finish this trekking trail within a week where we will go through the rhododendron forest. The tea-house will provide you with a portion of healthy and hygienic food at a high altitude. The menu will be less or you get only typical Nepalese food.

Best season Annapurna Region

For trekking in this beautiful land, you have to choose a suitable season according to your holidays. You have to choose the best season and these seasons have the most stable weather and climate for this trek. The weather and temperature in the Mardi Himal trek are around 20-degree Celsius in the daytime. But at night time temperature will decrease to 10-degree Celsius. It offers the high alpine forest and busy lifestyle of people new to high altitude with the Annapurna ranges. The autumn season is the highest trekking season in Nepal which is the best season for the Mardi Himal trek.

How Difficulty Mardi Himal Trek

Nepal offers immensely beautiful places which are a must-visit place for the trekkers and travelers with a variety of routes ranging from easy to difficult and busy to more restful. It falls on the difficulty of moderate with some of the best views you can have on any trek. The trek difficulty is relatively easier than any other trekking route and where you will walk through the woods before you will be the altitude of 3300m from the sea level. This is an excellent choice for travelers who have limited time to spend but are looking for a quaint trekking experience in Nepal.

Altitude sickness is common at the higher elevation which is a common but unavoidable problem during the Mardi Himal trek is altitude sickness and if you can continue slowly and gradually will have less threat of altitude sickness. The different body reacts differently to altitude sickness and some may find it very difficult whereas others can adjust well. It is essential to take safety safeguards and stay hydrated while trekking which can weaken your body and can cause sickness. Trekker needs to be extremely careful when headed for the expedition and advise you to spare enough resting time between treks to avoid altitude sickness. If you are physically healthy even physically fit people can become a victim of altitude sickness.

Details Itinerary of Mardi Himal Trek

Day :Arrival in Kathmandu 1,327 m and transfer to hotel.

On reaching Kathmandu international airport via various respective airlines, our Nepal Base Camp Treks guide or staff will receive you with warm welcome and then a short drive to your hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city.
After checking in your hotel rooms and getting refreshed join at the hotel lobby for group briefing and orientation program where our guide informs you regarding hotels, Kathmandu, Nepali culture and Mardi Himal Trekking with welcome dinner in a pleasant authentic Nepalese restaurant with culture program.

Day: Drive to Pokhara 820m – 06 hrs of 220 k.m. distances.

Morning an exciting drive on nice comfortable coach or in a private vehicle (depending upon the group size), the road to Pokhara lead on low hills of with views of Himalayan peaks and rolling green hills, passing through many farm villages and towns to reach at scenic and famed city Pokhara.

Pokhara located in the shadow of massive Annapurna range of mountains with pristine Lake Phewa, here in accommodation in nice hotels with time in the afternoon for walks on the lake side where you can browse around excellent shops-stores-restaurants.

Day 01: Drive to Kande 1,770 start trek to Potana 1,890 m via Australian Camp – 04 hrs.

Beginning a short drive of an hour to reach outskirt of Pokhara on a hill village at Kande with glorious views of mountains along the ride, from Kande where our adventure starts with an hour uphill walk to Australian camp a scenic spot also known as Thulo Kharka, a grazing pasture land with amazing panorama of whole Annapurna range of mountains along with Dhaulagiri, Mardi Himal and Manaslu peaks including towering Machhapuchare ‘Fish Tail’.
After scenic break head downhill into cool forest to reach our overnight stop at Potana a small village with excellent views of snow-clad peaks in the midst of alpine woodland.

Day 02:  Trek to Kokar Forest Camp 3,050m via Deurali 2,100 m – 04 hrs.

After a pleasant and refreshing first overnight stop in the high hills of Annapurna at Potana village with scenic views, walk continues on the main trekking trail reaching at Deurali with superb scenery of landscapes and snow-clad peaks. From here our route leads into complete wilderness away from mainstream trekking trail heading towards north along a ridgeline into deep forested area where the temperature drops to cool and refreshing air with super views of Annapurna I and South with Huinchuli including Annapurna IV -II and Lamjung Himal and then slowly walk leads to our overnight stop in the middle of a woodland where few lodges are located for trekkers.

Day 03: Trek to Low Camp 2,970m – 04 hrs.

From this forest area, walk leads higher on uphill path with steep climb to reach a pasture land for overnight stop on route Mardi base camp with fantastic views of surrounding landscapes and mountains at close range, today a short walk where you can marvel beautiful scenery at ease with moderate walk reaching at Low Camp for lunch and overnight stop in the comfort of nice basic lodge but with warm hospitality of the locals.

Day 04: Trek to High Camp 3,700m – 05 hrs.

After a pleasant overnight stop, morning walk leads beyond towards upper and higher ridgeline of Mardi Himal hills, as the walk progress leaving behind the tall tree lines and lush vegetation for alpine shrubs and dwarf rhododendron bushes.

This wonderful area offers great views of surrounding hills and landscapes with high snow-clad mountains as the walk approaches closer towards Mardi Himal and towering Mt. Machhapuchare, a perfect spot within absolute tranquility as the walk leads at High Camp where air gets thinner and cooler after a steep climb to reach our overnight stop at High Camp with few simple lodges and excellent panorama of Annapurna Himalaya.

Day 05: At High Camp for day hike to Mardi Himal West Base Camp 4,500m.

At High Camp with another free day for excursion and to explore the hidden ridges of Mardi Himal area in complete wilderness, morning hike to Mardi Himal following a high ridge line to reach the highest point of this trek at 4,500 meters.

Walk leads to a steep climb on the ridgeline reaching a hidden plateau right at the base of Mardi Himal South West Face with majestic Mt. Machhapuchare that towers into blue skyline; Mardi Himal also called as ‘The Other Sanctuary’ named by early explorer Mr. Jimmy Roberts, when he first ventured the area in late 1970’s.
After a marvelous time at Mardi base camp with superb mountain views return walk on the same trail back to our overnight stop at High Camp.

Day 06: Trek to Sidhing village 1,700m via Low Camp – 06 hrs.

After an enjoyable and memorable walk on high ridges of Mardi Himal with awesome views our morning walk leads back into forested areas full of rhododendron and pines trees, retracing the path back into a forest reaching at Low Camp, from here downhill walk to reach at Sidang village situated on a junction to other East and West route of Mardi Himal as the walk leads to warmer area for overnight stop.

Day 07: Drive back to Pokhara via Mardipul – 05 hrs.

Last day of trekking of this wonderful adventure after being on a hidden trails of Annapurna area, where few trekkers venture, morning walk leads on the trail following Mardi River on a wide valley reaching more warmer areas with farm villages and rice paddy terraces, our walk finally ends at Mardi village where we will take a short drive back to Pokhara.

Day :Drive to Kathmandu – 06 hrs evening farewell dinner.

After a great adventure on the hidden pockets of Annapurna at Mardi Himal area, morning journey with a drive back to Kathmandu with few rest stops for refreshment and lunch, after 6 hours of good drive reaching back at busy city life in Kathmandu.
(From Pokhara an option taking a flight to Kathmandu of 30 minutes).

Day :Final International departure homeward bound.

Last day in amazing Nepal with awesome time in the high hills of Annapurna Himalaya and Mardi Himal trekking, our staff will transfer you to Kathmandu international airport for your final flight back homeward bound or to respective countries.

I first met Sappa in 2008 on a family Gokyo Lakes Trek and EBC Trek. At that time, I was greatly impressed by the highly professional approach he took to mountain guiding. I’m very happy to report that in 2014 and 2017  nothing has changed during my Langtang Valley second family trek and Manaslu Circuit Trek. Sappa continues to maintain an exceptionally high standard of service and this together with his warm, generous and engaging personality ensured everyone in our party had an amazing time during their visit to Nepal.

We were treated to fantastic traditional Nepalese food and cultural performances at welcoming and farewell dinners in Kathmandu; expertly and safely guided over 14 days of trekking through an incredibly beautiful landscape; and provided with detailed and knowledgeable commentary during our tours of all the main sites around Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan. I’m very happy to report that the organisation of our transport, sightseeing, accommodation and trekking arrangements was first rate and that over three weeks everything ran very smoothly indeed. Overall, Sappa‘s vast guiding experience and mountain knowledge ensured that our itinerary was structured in such a way that it provided us with a good deal of flexibility and ample time to absorb the magnificent mountain views while trekking, as well as not being rushed on our tours of Kathmandu and surrounds.

On this trip, a few in our party were first time trekkers. Importantly, from a safety aspect, we were more than pleased to find that Nepal Base Camp Treks used modern four wheel drive vehicles to take us to the start of our trek in Syabrubesi and also for the return journey from Dhunche. We were also very impressed to observe that Sappa and his company take very good care of their support crews.

German Language: Wir haben mit Sappa und einem Träger im Mai 2011 eine elftägige Trekking Tour durch die Langtang und Helambu Region gemacht. Wir sind das Langtang Tal von Syrabrubesi bis Kanjin Gompa hoch gewandert und dann über die Gosainkunde Seen, den Laurebina Pass und die Helambu Region nach Kathmandu zurückgekehrt. Der Trek war einfach wundervoll! Er führt durch verschiedene Vegetationszonen mit reicher Flora und Fauna und überwältigenden Aussichten auf die Gipfel des Himalaya. Darüber hinaus bot der Trek einen tiefen Einblick die die Tamang Kultur und das Leben und die Tradition der nepalesischen und tibetanischen Bevölkerung.

Sappa ist ein sehr erfahrener Führer, der die Gegend sehr gut kennt. Er verstand es perfekt, die Länge der täglichen Etappen und die Trekkinggeschwindigkeit auf unsere Wünsche und Bedürfnisse anzupassen und war insbesondere ein guter Ratgeber bei Fragen zur Höhenkrankheit. Sappa hat sich um alle Angelegenheiten mit den Lodges, den örtlichen Behörden, den Taxi- und Busfahrern etc. gekümmert. Sappa é o cara. Visitei o Nepal em duas ocasiões. Na primeira ele foi meu guia no circuito Annapurna, onde caminhamos por 21 dias. Na segunda ele nos guiou nos treks Langtang, Gosainkunda e Helambu por 17 dias. Alem disso, ele foi nosso guia no trek Cheppang Hills. Como se não bastasse, fizemos também o clássico Base Camp Everest partindo de Jiri e passando por Renjo La e Cho La, em 24 dias com o seu irmão Lako. O Nepal é um pais maravilhoso e a companhia de um guia como Sappa fez toda a diferença, pois ele nos explicou muito sobre a cultura local, religião, situação política/conflitos no pais e como funciona a sociedade no Nepal em geral. Ele fala muito bem inglês, é muito bem humorado e as risadas estão garantidas. Pra resumir, você começa a trilha com um guia e termina com um amigo. Recomendo-o sem hesitar.
